Welcome

Posted By Will Beckett, Monday, June 20, 2011

Welcome to EAA members that are new LEAF owners.  We are looking for someone to act as the point person for this blog but until then, please feel free to make comments here.

I got my LEAF about a month ago and have been very impressed .  I had my charging unit in the car modified to accept 240vac and built up some adapters to cover areas I expect I will plug in.  I have seen other LEAFs in the area and know two other owners and we plan to get together for regular meetings and hope that other LEAF owners in the area will be joining us.

I am interested in hearing from others, so jump right in.

The LEAF is the most owned EV in the World. We should work with Nissan and give a free 1 year membership to every LEAF owner and leased driver.
We need to make sure they know to charge Off Peak and make their homes more efficient to help the GRID and encourage utilties to have low Off Peak Rates.
Aslo the LEAF built in timer and 80% charge option can make the batteries last long and use Off Peak Energy very easily.

All LEAF owners (and Volt as well) get a free 3 month membership in the EAA. Several have joined with this new membership. The promotional code was sent to dealerships and the North American rep for Nissan. It was also annouced at the Bay Leaf members meeting several months ago.

Antiquated public charging. We need to upgrade public charging. Old inductive paddle charging is current state of the art at Pasadena, CA. public charging locations.Where do we go to initiate upgrades?

talke to Tom Dowling and your local EAA chapter. I am sure there is an effort already underway to do this upgrade. For inductive the EAA has been recommending an A/B switch which will allow the inductive to stay for a while but still use the power connection for a J1772.

Is anyone else having issues with defrosting and slow heater operation in cold, damp weather?
