I recently read a book that I couldn’t put down, "Rewiring America" by engineer and inventor Saul Griffith.

A big part of this book's appeal is its non-draconian approach to a clean energy future. It relies on current technology with no magical thinking or future technology required. Serving as a clean energy field manual, the mantra is "Electrify everything…now."

Griffith uses this platform to debunk the common belief in the U.S. that solving the climate crisis and growing the economy are incompatible goals.

“Rapidly electrifying the country would create millions of good paying, impossible to outsource jobs in every zip-code in the country, save each household thousands of dollars per year, and reduce our energy needs by half,” Griffith writes. “Making this transition won't be easy, but we can do it. The future we build will be a better one for our children, our planet and for us. We'll have better technology, cleaner air and a more equitable and affordable economy."

The well-written book is clear about the importance of EVs when it states “Everyone’s next car and every subsequent car should be electric.”

And even better, the book is free. Just login to Rewiring America to find the details on how to address climate change while continuing to enjoy our current lifestyle. If we do it quickly, it may be an improved lifestyle.
